Lust & Love

Lust & Love

This painting was an album cover done in surrealism style, and was inspired by Lorde ‘Melodrama’ album. The album includes a lot of songs about relationships, which is what the piece was inspired by. It is two kissing silhouettes  with a snake and butterfly coming out of their mouths, which represent the good and evil in relationships. This was completed using water-colour, tech pen, acrylic, and collage.

U.F.O

U.F.O

The goal of this linocut was to create print inspired by a historical era. I chose Russian constructivism to inspire my linocut which typically consists of political messages and strong shapes, lines, words, and bold colours. I chose to carve a UFO because i thought it would a different twist on constructivism. I used geometric shapes and bold lines in the linocut to represent

Dream, Reality, Nightmare

Dream
Nightmare
Reality

The purpose of this piece was to create a series of 3 abstract paintings. My paintings were inspired by dream, reality, and nightmare. I used organic and geometric shapes to portray this. I chose different shades of blue, grey, and gold because they are earthy colours but can also represent the sky and darkness. There is a gold circle in each piece which represents a person and what their experiencing in the dream, reality, or nightmare.

Monster

This piece is meant to show value and depth using mixed media. I used the theme friend to inspire this piece. The drastic difference in scale represents the monster and girls ability to make a connection, despite their differences. A monochromatic colour scheme is used to create a dark, lifeless environment. This piece was completed in an illustrative style using pastels, coloured pencil, and India ink.

Self Portrait

Self Portrait

This piece is a self portrait with minor exaggerations and is meant to express how i see myself. I made minor adjustments to my face and hair and also added a ‘crown’ that represents the sun, moon, and stars. The moon represents the darkness i have experienced, the stars are the small amount of light in the darkness, and the sun is the light that i have now found. I used rich, jewel tone colours to make a statement without it being to bright, the colours get lighter, the closer to my face they are because overtime i have found more light and happiness, this was completed in acrylic paint.

Saving Seawater

These abstract paintings are inspired by coral reefs and the vibrant colours and shapes that they may lose due to global warming. Created with acrylic paint on canvas.
